Plan parking before activation
Heavy snowfall prompts the transportation department to decide whether routes need plowing. It gives 24-hour notice through the Lethbridge Loop app, City news, social channels and local media. Move all vehicles, including trailers and RVs.
Use a driveway, parking pad or nearby street outside the route. Plan for guests and household members who are away. Once the City announces deactivation, street parking can resume. Vehicles left on a route may be ticketed and plowed around.

What plowing can leave
Plows push snow to the right and may leave windrows at driveways, curbs or boulevards. Parking lanes can lose space. The City uses priorities rather than promising that every road is cleared at the same time.
Snow and ice crews cover winter storm-watch shifts around the clock. Ice treatment depends on pavement temperature, weather and forecast. Do not pass working plows or graders; leave space so the equipment can operate.

Free windrow assistance
The program is for people living on a snow route who have mobility or accessibility challenges and no alternative supports. Call 311 to discuss eligibility and register. Registration is required annually even for past users.
Contractors clear subscribed properties’ windrows within 72 hours after snowfall ends. The free program runs November 1 to March 30. It addresses plow ridges, not a verified full-yard, driveway or routine sidewalk-shovelling service.
